Portoro is a very precious black marble with yellow-gold streaks  extracted in the Ligurian territory near the magnificent coastal city Porto Venere. The black color is given by the abundant presence of organic substance; the golden striations are due to a partial process of dolomitization that destroyed, oxidizing, the organic substance. Its beauty and originality make it recognizable all over the world.
